Frustration

Sun Jul 5, 2009, 10:25 AM
  • Mood: Defeated
  • Reading: help wanted adds
  • Watching: my life spiral out of control
  • Eating: nothing
  • Drinking: coffee
I enjoyed a good few weeks of having nearly full hours, a steady income and finally thinking that my job at the grocery store could support me comfortably. Then the highschool kids got out of school. My store employs a lot of girls that are in highschool and even though I work more than them they have worked there longer. Union rules state that those with seniority can claim the hours of those beneath them if they are not given full hours. Because these girls are no longer in school they have unrestricted their hours and now expect to get 32hrs every week, if they don't they can take mine. These kids live at home and usually only spend this money on partying, clothes or saving up for vacations. So while my hours are cut and I'm having to deal with angry bill collectors, less meals and late rent, these girls are out enjoying their summer with barely a care in the world.

I have worked harder and better than any of these girls and this is how my bosses repay me. I get it, it's union rules but what ever happened to rewarding good work? Now I am having to go find a second job again. Then I'll have two jobs to work myself to the bone in, two jobs that I have no passion for and that are taking time away from my art.

I am very frustrated to say the least. I'm thinking about going back to school again for Make-up Artist. I still want to work in the film industry but my current education has gotten me nowhere. If I do do this I'll have to go it alone this time. I wont ask my parents for help, they deserve their retirement.

Oooo! Thank you for the heads-up on that. Doubt I'll win but the other costumes look great and I may have to purchase something from that site soon. :)
